I
would just like to say thank you to the players for the weekend I think in the
end they enjoyed the tournament. We started a bit rocky on the Saturday, loosing
our first game to SASH, 8-0, James Wright had a penalty shot in the second
period which he saved (well done) ,but the lads brushed off the loss and
eagerly awaited the next game, this was a better performance it was against BISH
NORTH (who won the tournament) and we put up a good battle, we did score in this
game the goals scored by Rupert and Ollie both in the first period, but it was
another loss 7-2, but the lads still was ok about the loss, then unfortunately
it all went pear shaped, We was up against SESHA a game which should have been a
relatively easy, but it all went a little ok a lot wrong, they was all over the
place out of positions not keen and eager (what had gone wrong? I had my own
thoughts), we did loose and the lads was annoyed and cross and some of them very
upset, (we lost 2-0), now I could not have my lads like this, no way I had to do
something, I did we had 3 meetings, (they know why) but by the third one they
was talking like hockey players thinking like hockey players, then it all made sense, so our first game on Sunday was against
LASH, well what a change in the team, this was how they should be playing, they
went out there with a fire in their body’s, they held their positions used their
minds, passed the ball used the boards all the things just seem to come
together, and yes we won and the lads was well pleased with then self’s 3-0 win,
but the next game was against BISHA south west a tough team, so we changed
tactics a little bit and at the end of the first period we was loosing 1-0 but
we was holding them so much so their coach was thinking of bribing us to take a
loss (he was running scared), the second period we still put up a very good
fight we got a penalty awarded to us which Billy took he kept his composure and
put the ball in the back of the net, so we did get a goal against them, and
unfortunately our Wrighty had another penalty shot but he could not save this
one, but even though we lost it was a good match and the players played well,
and at the end of the day if you loose it is not too bad if you have played
well. I hope at the end of the of it all the lads enjoyed it, there is so much
I can say about them individually as they all had their characters. But we
might not have won but we had 2 of the 5 in the Dream Team Ollie Caplan and
James Wright so it can’t have been all that bad. But I have to say there is one
of our players who I believed deserved the Dream team for his commitment he
skill his thinking of the game his composure, being excellent at his job, my
Dream team would go to Will Barnes, he made a FANTASTIC captain and was never
afraid to speak he mind and put his ideas forward.
THANKS WILL
And
for Rupert (it’s all about the harIbo’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
